Research & Insights Executive

Closing date: 8th October 2026 Salary: £36,260 - £46,620 (dependent on experience)

About 411

411 is a political digital agency that originated from the winning team behind the Labour Party's 2024 general election victory. We are committed to advancing progressive causes, working with clients across the UK and around the globe. Our mission is to deliver impactful digital strategies and content that drive meaningful change.

About the role

We’re looking for a Research & Insights Executive to join our growing Research & Insights team.

The Research & Insights team helps our clients understand the audiences, conversations and narratives shaping the political and cultural landscape around them. We use social listening, digital research and audience analysis to identify emerging issues and opportunities, understand how narratives travel online, and turn large volumes of information into clear, actionable insights for campaigns.

As a Research & Insights Executive, you’ll work across a range of political and progressive clients in the UK and internationally. You’ll conduct research across social media and the wider digital landscape, analyse quantitative and qualitative data, and help translate what you find into recommendations that inform campaign strategy, messaging and content.

This is a role for someone who is naturally curious, politically engaged and analytical, but who also understands that good research is only useful if it can be communicated clearly and applied to real-world decisions.

What you'll do

Social listening & digital research

  • Conduct social listening and digital research across platforms to understand the conversations, communities and narratives relevant to our clients.

  • Build and refine searches and queries using social listening and research tools, ensuring that the data we collect is relevant and robust.

  • Monitor emerging narratives, political developments and online trends, identifying changes that may present opportunities or risks for clients.

  • Research online communities, creators, commentators and other influential voices to understand who is shaping conversations and how information travels between audiences and platforms.

Analysis & insights

  • Analyse quantitative and qualitative data to identify meaningful patterns, trends and shifts in online conversation.

  • Distinguish genuine insights from noise, interrogating data rather than simply reporting what is most visible or widely shared.

  • Help assess the reach, engagement and impact of digital content and campaigns.

  • Investigate emerging or potentially misleading narratives, including misinformation and disinformation, and assess how widely they are spreading and which audiences they are reaching.

  • Combine social listening data with desktop research and wider political context to build a fuller picture of an issue or audience.

Reporting & recommendations

  • Turn research findings into clear, concise and useful outputs, including briefings, reports, presentations and rapid-response analysis.

  • Translate complex data into insights and recommendations that can be understood by clients and colleagues who are not research specialists.

  • Contribute to recommendations on campaign strategy, messaging, content and audience engagement based on the evidence.

  • Support regular reporting for clients, as well as rapid-turnaround research responding to breaking news or emerging political developments.

Project & client delivery

  • Take ownership of defined research tasks and workstreams, managing your time effectively and delivering work to a high standard.

  • Work closely with colleagues across 411, ensuring research and insights are integrated into wider digital and campaign strategy.

  • Build strong relationships with clients, presenting research findings and recommendations clearly and confidently, including through in-person meetings and international travel where required.

  • Work collaboratively with senior members of the Research & Insights team to develop research approaches and methodologies for new projects.

  • Stay up to date with developments in social listening, digital research, AI and emerging platforms, and help the team test new approaches and tools.

About you

You'll probably enjoy this role if you:

  • Are genuinely curious about people, politics and the internet — and want to understand not just what people are saying, but why, where conversations are coming from and how they spread.

  • Have strong political instincts and keep up with current affairs, online culture and the changing digital landscape.

  • Are comfortable working with both numbers and words, and can move between quantitative data and qualitative analysis.

  • Have a critical eye for evidence and are willing to question assumptions, including your own.

  • Can take a large or messy amount of information and identify what actually matters.

  • Write clearly and concisely, and can explain complicated findings in straightforward language.

  • Are comfortable working at pace and responding to rapidly developing events.

  • Are organised, detail-oriented and able to manage several pieces of work at once.

  • Enjoy working collaboratively and are keen to develop your research skills as part of a growing team.

  • Have a genuine interest in political campaigns and progressive politics.

Experience

  • Experience in social listening, digital research, political research or audience insights, ideally within a political, campaigning, communications or public affairs environment.

  • Experience conducting qualitative and/or quantitative analysis, with the ability to identify meaningful trends and draw clear conclusions from data.

  • Experience researching social media platforms, online communities and digital narratives, with an understanding of how conversations and information travel online.

  • Strong written communication skills, with experience turning complex research and data into clear, concise and actionable insights.

  • Familiarity with social listening or media intelligence platforms such as Brandwatch, or similar tools is desirable, but not essential.

  • Experience working with data, spreadsheets, dashboards or data visualisation tools is desirable.

  • Familiarity with AI tools and an interest in applying them to research and analysis is a plus.

Benefits

  • Flexible working: option to work remotely, with offices in Leeds and London available for in-person collaboration.

  • Generous pension scheme: 7% employer contribution.

  • Generous parental leave policy.

  • Health Assured app: access to an employee assistance programme, therapy sessions and wellbeing resources.

  • Cycle to work scheme.

  • Opportunities for international travel.

Out-of-hours work may occasionally be required during busy periods, major political events and breaking news.

Application process

Please send your CV and a cover letter to careers@fouroneone.co.uk with the subject line “R&I Executive”.

Your cover letter should address the following questions, but may include anything else you think is relevant:

  • Why are you interested in joining 411’s Research & Insights team, and what interests you about using research and social listening in a political or campaigning context?

  • Tell us about a piece of research or analysis you have conducted. What question were you trying to answer, how did you approach it, and what did you learn?

  • Tell us about an online trend, narrative or community you have found interesting recently. What caught your attention, and what do you think it tells us about the people or conversation involved?
