Social Organising Lead
Closing date: Sunday 16th August 2026 Salary Band: £58,803 - £69,495 (dependent on experience)
About 411
411 is a political digital agency working with progressive clients across the UK and around the globe. We grew out of the team behind the Labour Party's 2024 general election victory, and have since expanded both locally and internationally - delivering strategy, content, and campaigns that help progressive movements build power, grow their supporter bases, and win. We are unapologetically centre-left.
About the role
As the Social Organising Lead, you will own 411's social organising function - leading the strategy, methodology, and delivery of organising programmes that help our clients grow their movements and turn supporters into online activists. You'll oversee a team of social organising specialists, ensuring we consistently deliver online campaigns that are creative, scalable, and grounded in real-world political organising principles.
A significant part of the role involves building clients' internal organising capacity - training their teams, developing supporter journeys, and designing the systems that sustain long-term mobilisation. You'll work closely with client teams and Strategic Directors across 411 to make sure organising is embedded in campaign strategy from the ground up.
Specific Responsibilities
Social Organising Strategy: Develop and lead comprehensive social organising strategies for clients. This includes designing supporter journeys, building mobilisation frameworks, and producing strategic recommendations that shape how our clients grow and activate their base.
Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of social organising specialists, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration. Line manage and develop more junior members of staff, embedding best practice in social organising across the team.
Ensuring high level of delivery: Oversee the team's organising programmes, ensuring the work delivered to clients is of the highest standard - well-executed, politically astute, and results-driven.
Organising Methodology: Work with colleagues to develop sophisticated and effective methods for online mobilisation - from peer-to-peer outreach and community group strategies to volunteer management systems - ensuring our approaches are scalable, inclusive, and fit for purpose.
Capacity Building: Design and deliver training programmes that build social organising capability within client organisations, enabling their teams to sustain and grow their movements independently over time.
Client Management: Collaborate closely with clients to understand their organising goals and provide regular updates on programme performance. Offer strategic advice and recommendations to help clients build lasting power through social organising.
Collaborating with partners: Build and maintain relationships with platform partners, tool vendors, and peer organisations - including unions, civil society groups, and international progressive movements - to expand 411's organising capabilities and keep us ahead of the curve on new tools and methodologies.
Industry Trends: Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in social organising, community building, and civic tech. Identify new opportunities for growth and innovation in how progressive movements mobilise supporters.
Travel: Travel as required to meet with clients, attend industry events, and manage projects both domestically and internationally.
Experience
At least 3 years' experience in community organising, online mobilisation, political campaigning, or a closely related field - we're interested in people who understand how movements are built and what it takes to turn supporters into active participants, whatever their specific background.
Experience managing a small to mid-sized team (with direct line management responsibilities a plus).
Experience working in a political, union, or third sector/NGO space is desirable.
Experience in running social media campaigns.
Skills
Ability to translate organising strategy into clear, practical plans for clients and internal teams.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to train and inspire others.
Strong presentation skills.
Confidence using AI tools (such as Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini) to accelerate planning, draft supporter communications, and scale organising work.
Ability to prioritise and manage workload in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of another language (e.g., German, Italian, French, Portuguese, Spanish, or Swedish) is helpful but not essential.
