Key Purpose

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Finance Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day processing of all financial transactions and ensuring the smooth operation of our financial systems. This position is ideal for someone with strong bookkeeping skills and previous experience using accounting software. We would welcome applications from candidates with relevant experience but no formal training.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Bookkeeping and Financial Records: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including managing the sales and purchase ledgers and completing VAT returns.

  • Accounting Systems: Enter manual journals for salaries and assist with other entries in Xero.

  • Invoices and Payments: Create and send invoices, log incoming payments, make outgoing payments to suppliers, and update client details in accounting systems.

  • Reporting: Assist in generating financial reports and preparing year-end financial statements.

  • Credit Control: Chase clients with overdue accounts and maintain effective credit control.

  • Staff Expenses: Manage and maintain staff expense records through our expensing system.

  • Communication: Liaise closely with external accountants, the Company Directors, and other stakeholders, ensuring clear and professional communication.

Skills & Experience

  • Experience: At least 2 years of experience in a finance role, with prior experience using Xero and Moss being highly desirable.

  • Bookkeeping: Strong bookkeeping skills with attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Administrative Skills: Excellent organizational abilities and the capacity to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Work Ethic: Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, showing initiative and problem-solving skills.

Benefits

Salary: £27,000 - £32,000 per annum, negotiable dependent on experience
